Sunday May 5, 2013
Please join Eleanor on Sunday May 5, 2013 at the 11th Annual Toronto Hike for Hospice to raise awareness and money in support of Toronto’s community hospices.
This May, thousands of Canadians from across the country will be hiking and walking in celebration of a loved one to kick-off National Hospice Palliative Care Week (May 5–11, 2013), a one-week, national campaign focused on raising awareness about hospice palliative care. It is a time to celebrate, remember loved ones, recognize and share the achievements of hospice palliative care throughout Canada. Eleanor will be walking with her daughter in memory of her father, Wallace.
Toronto Hike for Hospice will be at Riverdale Park West in Cabbagetown, Toronto (at Carlton Street and Sumach Street). It will feature a 5 km challenge hike through Riverdale Park or a 2 km leisure walk in historic Cabbagetown, followed by a barbeque, live music, and lots of fun-filled activities with the entire family. Awards will be presented to the top individual, adult and young (up to 16 years) fundraisers and teams. Participants are encouraged to form teams and hike with family, friends and co-workers in support of hospice palliative care in Toronto or to walk in memory of a loved one. Leashed pets are welcome.
Registration starts at 9:30 am; hikes start at 11:00 am. For more information, go to www.torontohikeforhospice.ca
